How will the company fair in damage control?

Yesterday’s rumours are closer to fruition today, as fears over the safety of the new Toyota Prius have prompted a recall of vehicles in the United States today. The launch of the new Prius in Australia was to be a landmark moment in the companies Australian history, as they were the first locally-built hybrid car, however due to the braking system being similar to that used in the US version, a recall is imminent after only releasing the vehicle on Monday.

The recall should affect more than 1700 Prius hybrid petrol-electric cars due to the problem in braking. Despite this the company has ruled out the possibility of ceasing the production of the hybrid Camry being built in Australia. Toyota Australia revealed that the Prius’ in question were sold between July and December last year.
